Father (ෆාදර්) is a Sinhala language film directed by Chaminda Jayasuriya and produced by Shantha Geethadeva. The story is inspired by real events that took place in Sri Lanka from the 1970s to the 1990s a time when the country faced political unrest, fear, and social challenges.
The movie centers around a man known as “Father” a respected and brave figure in his community. He is feared by some but loved by many because he always stands up for justice and protects the people around him. As powerful forces begin to misuse their power and silence those who speak out, Father refuses to stay quiet. Instead, he fights back not just with strength, but with wisdom, loyalty, courage, and sacrifice.
Through his journey, the film shows how one man’s commitment to what is right can inspire others to resist oppression, stand up against corruption, and protect the weak. It’s a story about courage, struggle, and the fight for justice during difficult times in Sri Lanka’s history
