Suraj Mapa (full name Mapa Mudiyanselage Suraj Laksiri) is a famous Sri Lankan actor, teledrama producer, dancer, model, and choreographer. He was born on 2 January 1980 in Kandy, Sri Lanka and grew up with two older sisters. He studied at Trinity College, Kandy before entering the entertainment world.
Suraj became well-known for his acting in television serials such as Olu, Pooja, and Haara Kotiya. These roles made him popular with audiences across Sri Lanka.
In addition to television, Suraj has acted in several Sri Lankan films. Some of his confirmed movie appearances include Uththara (2010), where he played a leading role, Suseema (2011) as one of the main characters, and Singa Machan Charlie (2015) in a notable role showing his range as a film actor.
Suraj is not only an actor but also a dancer and choreographer. He trained in dance since school and has taken part in dance performances and reality shows. He even started Suraj Dance Academy, where he teaches dance workshops in Sri Lanka.
He has won awards such as the Sumathi Most Popular Actor Award in 2007 for his television work an honor chosen by the public.
Outside of performance, Suraj is involved in business, including being a partner in the clothing brand Elsa Clothing.
Today, Suraj Mapa continues to act, produce shows, and stay active in Sri Lankan entertainment, known for his dance skills, screen presence, and connection with fans.
